Extraoral Maxillofacial Reconstruction
Maxillofacial Reconstruction involves treating patients that have suffered congenital, trauma or cancer defects. These patients often have had a portion of their face or upper and lower jaws removed and Dr. Over replaces these tissues with not only esthetic but functional prostheses.
Dr. Over is formally trained in maxillofacial prosthetics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics.
Examples of this type of treatment are replacement of a patient’s upper jaw with an obturator prosthesis or a replacement of a patient’s lower jaw with a fixed or removable prosthesis.
